My process for monthly planning

Outside of routine tasks and things which can be done straight away it can be difficult to remember to do the things you need to do in a month or so’s time. I have a particular day a month which I do this planning and I find it a helpful way to remember those tasks.

Example:

We will need to decide what we are going to do over Christmas. I am not the type of person who starts planning next year straight after the year before. We also have four family birthdays between the end of October and the beginning of December and so by the time those are out of the way Christmas is looming.

I set a date for when I am going to plan things happening in December and keep adding to the list. That way nothing will get lost and we will not be panicking two weeks before the day.

The reminders could go into your calendar, notes app, a notebook or anywhere you will look on the day you have planned to do it.

When you add things to the list make sure you are giving yourself enough time before the event so for Christmas we might want to look at it in November or even October depending on how time sensitive the activities will be (again we are not big Christmas people). You could always do what you need to do in October and then move it into November for further tasks or schedule specific things in whatever you…
