“Weeks are the four-on-the-floor kick-drum of eternity” Russell Davies

The Twixtmas week is always a weird one, so much shuts down it feels like you can’t make progress on anything so you end up giving in and doing nothing.

Sqiggle christmas tree

We had Christmas dinner with my parents with Mick doing the cooking this year. He started the marathon cook off on Sunday evening. What is it about Christmas dinner that turns a meal for four into something incredibly stressful? I say that whilst freely admitting that I did not do very much towards the meal. Mick slow cooked brisket and then cooked the veg in the air fryer. We then packed it all up and drove round to my mum and dad’s where he did the gravy and I warmed things up.

It was lovely and since Mick doesn’t do portion control we left my dad with a mega sandwich worth of meat.

My mum was talking about sorting out Lasting Power of Attorney, wills and prepaid funerals a while ago and my dad has now caught up and so I spent quite a while on Wednesday completing the forms printing them out on my mum & dad’s cr*ppy Epson printer and getting them signed in the right order. We nearly got there but we needed to call them and so I went back on Thursday morning and we sorted out the last question and I got them in the post. The neighbour who acted as their Certificate Provider talked about doing one for her mum and it cost £1300 to get it done at a solicitors. I can understand why as is was much more time consuming than I expected. Mainly due to my mum printing the same form out three times on a very slow printer though.

I went to see the GP about finally getting my ADHD diagnosis done by the NHS as in 2008 they were only just starting to diagnose adults who were not picked up as children and mine done by a private psychologist about my problems with FE is a bit vague. I also want to be assessed for Autism as some of my traits suggest that.

The GP said, “what will change if you get a label because at 54, you obviously have a job and are doing well?” I said that actually I don’t do well, it is a struggle and it would help me to understand more about myself including trying medication. She immediately folded and has sent me a form to complete and I have to write about how it affects me. I will start by saying that I had already completed the form and left it in my bag in the office and I was 10 minutes late for the appointment because my brain decided that it was 15:00 not 14:50.

On Friday I had a session with a new NeuDICE client and on Saturday I did a four hour planning session with one of the directors.

NowMusic listening challenge NTWICM

This week has been the turn of Now That’s What I Call Music 6 from 1985. I was the only one who voted and so I am going to pick.

This week’s play track is Kate Bush — Running Up That Hill (A Deal with God)

The skip track is David Grant & Jaki Graham — Mated

Next week we are in 1986 with Now That’s What I Call Music 7. If you don’t want my dubious taste in music to win out get voting.

Next Week

This weekend is NYE, we are not planning to do anything although I am sure out neighbour will have a party we can join in from here.

I have quite a few coaching and support sessions booked in for next week already so by the end of the week hopefully we should be back to some normality.

I am starting to think about GovCamp on the 20th and what I might pitch.

Have a great weekend and HAPPY NEW YEAR!
