Theme — Love the sunny weather after all of the rain we have had recently

“Weeks are the four-on-the-floor kick-drum of eternity” Russell Davies

Bank holiday weeks are interesting, sometimes they feel long, sometimes short. This one has gone by in a flash for reasons which will become obvious.

On Monday I did a little light work, as I knew that this week would be caring heavy. Tuesday was mostly a NeuDICE day with our usual weekly meeting in the morning, although for reasons it was just Anne & myself. I also had a two hour support session with a client in the evening which went beyond my normal bed time. The dog was also complaining when she didn’t get her normal combination of tablets and treats at 8pm.

Mum had another dental appointment on Wednesday, she has Sjogren’s syndrome which means that she has no saliva and that causes dental caries. Dad gets really worried when she has to go as he would normally take her but he is still housebound after his hip break in February. Mick goes round to chat to him and keep him occupied while we are away with Roxy.

The occupational therapist has arranged for Mum & Dad’s path to be built up so that it is a ramp to the door and to make it easier for them to get into the car. On Thursday we had Tom there who measured up and ordered concrete and then used a still saw and a jackhammer to widen the area where the ramp will be and break up the existing path ready for Rob and Jack to fill it with concrete on Friday. I mostly moved the car and made tea.

Mick & I went to do the last of Mum & Dad’s shopping and delivered it just before seven o’clock and went home. I had just given Roxy her usual tablet, cooked meat and treat combo and was about to go to bed with a book when Dad called. He said Mum was ill so we dropped everything and went back round.

Mum looked dreadful. I think she had left it a bit late to eat that evening, it had been very hot during the day (compared to usual) and there had been lots of noise for two days and people coming and going. She cooled down a bit and had a cup of tea. She still looked pretty pale when we were leaving but she said she felt much better. I am so pleased that we moved South in 2020 and closer in 2023 and can reach them in five minutes.

We didn’t see the Northern Lights so we might have a go tonight just in case. I can’t see if it is likely to be viewable tonight yet but will keep an eye open. [Edit: I didn’t go anywhere again].

Twitter today is 50% ‘look at my amazing picture’ and 50% ‘Am I the only person who didn’t see the Northern Lights’ with a bit of ‘Day of the Triffids” (ask your grandparents).

On Thursday I got a direct message from someone I didn’t know. Usually those are in a language I don’t recognise but this one wasn’t

“Hi Sharon, I just randomly saw your comment to [REDACTED] who is a friend of mine, clicked on bio, and saw you help people in biz with adhd, and saw your weeknotes and randomly clicked on one that says short sessions to help people with adhd for who everything is terrible, and at moment that is me. I’m in a bit of a major rut.” I’m looking forward to speaking to them in the next couple of weeks.

Here is the offer again in case it is useful for you too

As an ADHDer I save lots of things, screenshots, photos, links etc. Some never see the light of day again but I was really excited to see Ben Welby’s post on LinkedIN about the performance platform as I have been hoarding this image since 2016. I have used it in courses but I was really pleased that I saved it. It shows the breakdown in applications up to the deadline prior to the Referendum on the UK’s membership of the European Union on 23 June 2016.

Applications breakdown 6 June 2016 showing people using the register to vote service and then a huge jump just before the deadline priot to the Referendum on the UK’s membership of the European Union on 23 June 2016.

I had a great conversation with a client from Germany who was on ‘workation’ in France. I am sure there is a better German compound word for that. She is going to let me know. She made me aware of the Transition Movement started by Rob Hopkins which is very interesting.

Next Week

After a full week at home with lots of caring for Mum & Dad, next week we will be away for Agile Manchester. I am speaking on the 16th and looking forward to that.

I hope to catch up with some Nexer people if they are around.

Mum and Dad have neighbours either side and over the road on call just in case.

Gotta go just got a message from Mum — read rolator for rotator. [Edit: they were foiled getting out of the front door so I made it in time and he had a lovely roll down the street and back]

legs. Mick has planted the flowere in the front. Your dad says he is going out with the rotator (sp). I will told him not to go on his own (sp). He thinks he will be OK. I best go with him xxx Mum
