Theme — Big news (sort of)

Weeks are the four-on-the-floor kick-drum of eternity” Russell Davies

The big news this week is that I am an ADHDer. Oh you already thought I was, well I was but now it is actually official. Now I would be the first person to say self diagnosis is valid but I also have wanted to go though an assessment since i first learned that I might be an ADHDer in 2008 so here we are 16 years later with a diagnosis. It doesn’t feel as huge as it did the first time around although there was a feeling of, what now when I finished the call as it has been a big effort to get to here and now it is done. I am pleased I did it and hopefully the meds will improve my brain brakes.

“I like to compare the ADHD brain to a Ferrari. Like a Ferrari’s engine, the ADHD brain packs exceptional power; it goes way faster than the average brain. But there’s a problem: this Ferrari brain only has bicycle brakes. A person with ADHD will find it difficult to control the extraordinary power of the brain they were born with.” — ADHD Explained: Your Toolkit to Understanding and Thriving by Edward Hallowell https://read.amazon.co.uk/kp/kshare?asin=B0CDG76Y5S&id=so6qg4ih35cpro7ztez43ud3ye

I am going to try medication because I want to know if it will work for me and I have a couple of friends who are around my vintage who are finding it useful.

In a couple of months I am 55. I have fairly recently been reminded of a small private pension from when I opted out of SERPS in 1989ish. I have decided to cash it in? out? and use it to sort out some things which need to be sorted out. I am calling it project 55 as it can’t happen until my birthday and it is kind of stuff which an old lady like me might think about, I don’t really like the term SADmin but it does fit.

I have had another talk booked for next month and so I am looking forward to that. I had a great call with Stefan and we talked about our respective business plans

I have done some coaching and support this week.

Dad’s orthotic shoe came back from being iterated and seems to be bang on now so that is great news.

I have been finishing up the Rivers of London series of books again for the umpteenth time and I have started The Complete Lychford and bought Somewhere to be to read next. cc Lucy Knight.

I wanted to watch the last series of The Umbrella Academy but talk on the interwebs is that it is not that great. I will watch it anyway but I am not in as much of a rush. The week after next Series 4 of Slow Horses is out and I am looking forward to that.

Next Week

This weekend is a bank holiday so I will be avoiding anywhere on the coast, I am running more getting things done sessions on Tuesday and Thursday, I have a follow up x-ray appointment and then it will be September.

Have a great weekend
