Weeks are the four-on-the-floor kick-drum of eternity” Russell Davies

That was a week…

Dad is really struggling with walking and so we had an appointment with orthotics and a catch up with the GP.

Two weeks after the last time out broadband was out due to another chewed cable. Our broadband provider says that we owe them £150 because the damage happened in the property. In the walls mind you, not inside the rooms. I disagree.

I picked up the second pair of remade glasses from the optician. Both new pairs are much better.

We took Roxy to the beach at the weekend and it was very pleasant.

The chats

I spoke to a fellow coach about providing services to Access to Work grantees.

I had a great call with some fellow coaches about return on investment which I am very good at ignoring when I see something I want to do.

I joined a group of OneTeamGov fans on a virtual lean coffee call. I ran some in 2018 so it was great to see them restart.

The van got though its service without any issues thankfully.

I enjoyed an Agile in the Ether Lean Coffee call.

I finally joined cardstock run by Matt Ballantine who I have known for eons since we were both at BBC Worldwide and john v willshire who I met sometime in 2016 at a launch of Dave Gray’s Liminal Thinking in London. Also there were Alastair Somerville, I attended an event Alastair put together near the south bank sometime in 2014–2016 I think and Stephen P. Anderson who I have not yet met but whose book Figure it Out was recommended a long time before the publish date by Christina Wodtke who I did meet at a speaker dinner in Manchester.

The highlight of the week (year so far) was a drum lesson which I have been saying would happen for decades. I really enjoyed it and am looking forward to next week. It is in the blood, my Grandad was a drummer and so I am hoping I will do OK. Thanks to Stuart Mackenzie for the details of a teacher who is just round the corner. I have started to put together a playlist of things I would like to be able to play, maybe I should add some Glen Miller in for Grandad. What would be on your list?

Publishing

Here are some things I have published this week:

What is next?

  • I have booked a call about social media with someone and so hopefully that will have an impact on the quality of my output.
  • My car is going to the garage on Wednesday to see if it is dead.
  • The first Wednesday of the month is the NeuDICE Virtual Living Lab.
  • After a week off for half term and a session missed due to the timing of Dad’s GP appointment I am back to the ADHD coaching module 2 next week, I think there is only three more sessions 🥲.
  • Monday and Friday mornings are for focus sessions.
  • Another drumming session on Thursday afternoon!
